THE VIBRATORS: I Kissed A Girl [Single]

With a career lasting thirty-one years, vocalist/guitarist IAN "KNOX" CARNOCHAN, bassist PAT COLLIER, guitarist JOHN ELLIS and drummer EDDIE originally formed the VIBRATORS in February 1976, and their first gig was supporting THE STRANGLERS at Hornsey Art College in North London. They supported THE SEX PISTOLS at the 100 CLUB and were one of the bands playing at the now legendary 100 CLUB PUNK ROCK FESTIVAL, where as well as doing their own set they supported guitar hero CHRIS SPEDDING. CHRIS recommended the band to his then record company, RAK. The band's debut single "WE VIBRATE" came out in November (one of the first punk singles) and was followed two weeks later by CHRIS SPEDDING'S "POGO DANCING" single with the VIBRATORS as the band on that. THE ORPHANS: Raise The Youth

The Orphans formed in May 1995 in the Philly area...more specifically, in and around the area of West Chester, Pennsylvania. Really the story begins before then, on skateboards in driveways and parking lots while a beat-up tape player crackles and blares in the background. We played basement shows mostly... a few backyards and a whole slew of rentable halls with a lot of bands we became friends with. All in all it adds up to the greatest time of your life: pissed off, carefree, caffeinated and brimming with the relentless desire to get in front of a roomful of dirty, spiky kids around your age and just fucking scream til you can't scream no more. We stopped playing officially in 2000, but have played reunion shows time and again for one reason or another. Our discography CD, "Raise the Youth," is still available through Fistolo Records (www.fistolo.com) and the Mischief Brew website (www.mischiefbrew.com).

STREET BRATS: Dead End Kids

"Three words come to mind when describing Chicagos own STREET BRATS new album: explosive Explosive EXPLOSIVE!!! This is the album the punk rock world needs to hear, the album that defies any punk rock genre, the album that makes you want to sing and dance in front of the mirror to. This is the album you get ready for your big date to, the album that should be the soundtrack to the movie you take your date too, and the album you take your date home and fuck to. Are we getting the point across yet? Reviewers couldnt put the STREET BRATS last 7 into any specific punk category, and damn did they try, and damn will they have a harder time with this one. SLAUGHTER AND THE DOGS, THE BOYS, RAMONES, VIBRATORS, whatever! Power pop, pop punk, glam, street punk, well just say punk rock! This is the STREET BRATS answer to Mommys Little Monster and to Rocket to Russia and even to God Save the Queen! In our (humble) opinion, See You at the Bottom.... is going to be one of the most powerful and exciting releases FULL BREACH KICKS will ever do and were sure will be one of the great punk rock albums of the decade." Beehive Hairstyles

Beehive hairstyles are a type of woman's hairdo that is named after and resembles an actual Beehive. This hairstyle is truly unique and a work of hair art.

The Beehive is also sometimes called the B-52 for its resemblance to the nose of a B-52 bomber plane.

The hairstyle was most popular in the 1960's and worn by famous people such as Audrey Hepburn and Dusty Springfield.

Beehive hairstyles have seen a resurgence in recent years as many famous celebrities have sported them at award shows and movie premieres.

RANCID & NOFX: [2002] BYO Splits Series Volume III

This 3rd Volume of the BYO Split Series features two of the most infamous punk bands in the world, RANCID and NOFX. The twist on this one is that each band has gone into the studio to record six of the other bands songs. Neither one revealed which songs they were going to do, so the mystery became even more of a reason to get more bold on song selelctions, and the outcome is amazing. The contrasting styles of both bands make the songs that much more interesting, and the self produced efforts bring forth all the energy and fury that punk rock is built on.

FEAR: [1985] More Beer [Restless]

Formed in 1977, the year of punk, Fear sent themselves on a mission to become one of the most relentless and furious hardcore punk bands of all time. They had infamous appearances in "The Decline of Western Civilization" and "Saturday Night Live (SNL)", tearing down the house like nobody else. "More Beer" is the second Album by Fear, which was released after their first smasher "The Record". It has a very strong edge of experimental elements throughout the whole album which gave them a somehow weird but very cool sound.
This is the CD re-issue includes the original recordings of "I Love Livin' in the City" and "Now Your Dead" from the band's first single, as bonus tracks, but omits the song Strangulation.

OPRAH TRADEMARK POWER

We have all heard the power of an Oprah Winfrey product endorsement, or the financial windfall that occurs when Oprah puts you on her booklist. So of course having Ms. Winfrey endorse or even review your product, book, or service is a coveted position by any entrepreneur. Oprah is fully aware of the power of her endorsements, so she is making sure that who she endorses must be accurate, protected, and not diluted by fakes claiming that their products were endorsed by her when they were in fact not.

So Oprah is getting tough and has filed a federal complaint against 50 firms for false association, misrepresentation, trademark infringement, and other claims. After Dr. Memhet Oz touted the benefits of acai berry products, many firms used Oprah and Dr. Oz’s name and image in their advisement creating the impression that Oprah and Dr. Oz endorsed their products when the actually did not.

The lawsuit is Oz. v. FWM Laboratories, Inc. 1:09-cv-07297-DAB; was filed in the Southern District of New York, on August 19, 2009. The complaint states "[t]hese defendants are willfully capitalizing on plaintiffs' valuable reputation and intellectual property rights to lure consumers into ordering their infringing products on the false premise that they have been tested or recommended by Ms. Winfrey and/or Dr. Oz when they have not.”

Oprah is also assisting the Illinois Attorney General in a larger array of investigations which is cracking down on acai berries dietary supplement makers. So far the Attorney General has filed three other lawsuits. Oprah’s lawsuit shows her power of branding and trademark influence.

As a Los Angeles trademark lawyer, I see also several state claims that could be included. As such, Oprah’s New York attorney included claims of trademark infringement, false endorsement, dilution, rights of privacy and publicity under New York and Illinois law, copyright infringement, false advertising under New York and Illinois Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act, cybersquatting (to get back various domain names that includes Oprah’s trademarks), unfair competition, and unjust enrichment. So essentially they threw in the kitchen sink of claims, and rightfully so. Oprah is keeping her name and trademarks strong by zealous and diligent enforcement.

Bob Hairstyles

Bob hairstyles are a short to medium length style in which the hair is generally cut straight around the head at about the jaw line, often with bangs and/or a fringe of sorts.

The bob hairstyle was first made popular in the early 1920's when American film star Colleen Moore dawned the style.

Bob hairstyles are still a very popular choice of design, and worn by many famous celebrities including Rihanna, Charlize Theron, and Keira Knightley to name a few.

Enjoy this picture gallery of fabulous bob hairstyles.

SMS - Mom's Bananna Apple Bread

Sunday morning is crazy busy every week. No exception. Cooking extra for the week lunches and making a Sunday dinner helps weekdays go by smoother. Fitting everything else that I would like to get done before going back to work is what makes the day feel crazy. The local farmer's market Saturday was a hit. Variegated bamboo plants around 4 feet tall, bushy Rose of Sharon shrubs with lavender flower buds, and ground covering wild red roses were among my great discoveries now sitting next to my greenhouse, ready to be planted. A grower, supplying nearby nurseries, sells at the farmer's market near my home in Port Orchard, WA. The plants were being sold at really low prices compared to what I have seen at the local nurseries and this gentleman's plants were beautiful, healthy, and full. I have been looking for plants to create a privacy wall with a variety of texture and colors. The bamboo may be a little worrisome because this variegated variety likes to spread. Building a strong root border in the ground will be a must.

The picture above is dinner for Sunday night: Hawaiian chili. The ingredients include fresh pineapple, chunks of pork loin, red bell peppers, carrots, celery, white kidney beans, a couple of hot peppers, cumin seasoning, different pepper spice seasonings, and fresh ginger. I will post the recipe and more pictures later this week. The flavors have a little kick to begin with but mellow the next day. I add shredded Monterrey Jack cheese and sour cream to the top when serving. The chili may sound unusual but the flavor combination is delicious and filling. The recipe makes enough to set aside extra to freeze for another evening.

The Sweet Melissa Sunday pick of Mom's Apple Banana bread by Joy of Hot oven, Warm Heart was such a nice choice to be baking first thing in the morning. What a great accompaniment to breakfast! Sauteing apples in butter, dark brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla immediately set the mood for the morning. The aroma was soothing and everyone waited with anticipation for the oven to open and the apple banana bread to be declared ready for slicing. I think this is the first recipe in a long time that I did not fiddle with the ingredients in some way.

I was busy slicing up fruit for breakfast along with ingredients for the Hawaiian chili so including a few apples for cubing was nothing at all. The dark brown sugar was a nice added touch and I added a bit more cinnamon then Melissa called for in the recipe.

Fresh oranges are essential in my kitchen because I take orange slices and add them on top of ice cubes in a pitcher, let the ice cubes melt, and everyone enjoys fresh orange water with breakfast.

I had to add a picture of my fun egg selection. I think I have mentioned before how I get eggs from my sister's neighbor. She has an assortment of hens so the eggs are different colors and sizes. You never know if a double yolked egg will pop out from the next egg cracked open. Kind of like an egg lottery =D.

If you would like to get the recipe and do not have Sweet Melissa's cookbook, Joy from Hot Oven, Warm Heart will have the recipe posted on her blog this week. Thank you Joy for such a wonderful and warming selection for the week!

Bowl Hairstyles

The Bowl haircut, also known as the beach cut, pot haircut, chili bowl, and mushroom cut are a style that looks as if you placed a bowl onto the top of the head at ears level, then cut off all the hair below that line.

Bowl hairstyles are also worn in a variation of different lengths, as seen in the following pictures.

Many famous people have sported the bowl hairstyle, including the Beatles, the Ramones and the legendary actor comedian Moe Howard of the Three Stooges.

Seeing red...

Just thought I'd post a picture of a custom order I finished today for a lovely bride. I normally don't coordinate my outfit with the hair piece I'm photographing because I'm running around so much and that would require several seconds of precious time... but today, I just so happened to be wearing this red top from my grandma. Cute, ya?

Happy Weekend!

It has been a very long week and I'm ready for a little kick back time with the hubby. I still have a long list of work to do today, but I'm looking forward to this evening... we may go to miniature golf down the street from our house. :) Speaking of the hubby, our 2 year anniversary is coming up next month! I was just digging around older photos and I'm missing Maui (where we went on our honeymoon). Here's an oldie from the honeymoon:

Snorkeling trip to turtle bay.
We're *thinking* of making a second Maui trip in winter time, when the weather is crummy in Oregon. And speaking of upcoming cooler/colder days, I'm loving the new legwear at Anthropologie

Crinkle-Cut Leggings

Flowerfall Leggings
I love these... although, I'm not sure I'm ready for colder weather. I feel like I just got my summer wardrobe dialed in.
