Herschel Walker has said he doesn’t remember winning college football’s highest individual honor because of mental illness.1982 was Walkers last season with the Georgia Bulldogs, and he tallied 1,752 yards and 6 touchdowns that year—he won the Heisman that season and then made the jump to the USFL—and he essentially admits to doing so on auto-pilot.
Walker, who went on to play in the NFL and compete in the Olympic in two-man bobsled, suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder — formerly known as multiple personality disorder. As a result, he has said he does not remember the entire 1982 football season when he won the Heisman Trophy for the University of Georgia Bulldogs.
Talk about impressive.
