I think we most likely held it down too long.
No, I got it too and I stopped holding the button as soon as the light started pulsating. I think it's normal.

Ha ha ha! Way to prove you arent a Samsung rep..."3 iPad's down", give me a break, nobody could go through 3 iPad 2's with how tight supply has been. Take a hike.I can attest that I've been through three iPad2's before getting one that didn't have a light leak. And I'm not talking about a small nit or a slight systemic imperfection with uniform light leakage all around - the light leaks were all significant and notable, about the size of a quarter. And were so bad that they weren't even contested by the store staff.
So my fourth iPad2 is perfect. A linemate's iPad that he opened in the store was perfect; the family next to me however did have a small light leak.
Generally speaking, every light leak I saw was ugly and notable. This wasn't that slight "bleed" that you can just accept as part of an LCD. These were all ugly, large yellowish-white blemishes leaking out.

Ad feminam attacks aside, I think you may be underestimating the damage this kind of leak will do to Apple. Competitors now have confirmation of Apple's plans and can push for competing deals to be negotiated so that their stores can come out at the same time as Apple's. The leak is an attempt by Lion's Gate to bring more competition into an area that Apple is blazing the trail for. All Mac users should defend Apple and do whatever we can to help the mothership.
Honestly, you are the type of Mac user that makes me embarrassed to be a Mac fan. "The Mothership"? Are you even f'n kidding me? It's a corporation. And if you don't think that competitors have a very good idea of where these deals stand, then you are in need of an eye-opener. It is the consumers who are in the dark, not the industry.
That's all I can say. I will continue on using the Mac platform, and telling those around me what I see are the pluses of it, but you will never see me take things to the level you have, with a battlecry to come to the aid of a large company that certainly doesn't need our help in dealing with a movie company. Good luck to you.

I'd like to see something like this for O2 (in the UK).
I don't have an iPhone, and I don't really have any coverage problems, but there are some semi-rural areas that I think should be covered but aren't.

Don't be a  tard.
There are FIVE different models with FIVE different specifications. I can buy them online with the hassle of having to select a provider.
The rest of the world does count them this way ... check

for starters.
The MINORITY of people on the planet count them your way.
Colors and sizes. Even better. Wow, you're digging deep man. And every statistical count of phone purchases count them as two phones: 3GS and 4
But keep on pretending you're right, it's really quite amusing. I bet you're all red in the face right now.

Why won't they just give the cpu sku, it would make it much easier to compare than ghz values, with turbo, ht, vt enabled and what not.
Apple marketing don't think those things matter. You can find all the info easily at ark.intel.com and the information is in plenty of threads in the iMac subforum.

Interesting app. Unfortunately the place where my phone drops the most also has a funky gps issue. My iPhone usually says I'm located anywhere from 10 to 20 miles away (and yes, it has the pin point orb thing and not the you're in this general area circle). So I can report the problem but AT&T will get some random spot in the city and not the actual position.
This isn't a GPS issue. It's actually something wrong with the AT&T network. The iPhone locates you with different information sources with GPS being only one of them. The information that the network cell tower provides is how the iPhones seems to begin its search.
Where I live (Essex county New Jersey), the iPhone tells me that I'm in near the Pennsylvania/NJ border - about 40-50 miles away - when I try to get my current location. When I go to Airplane mode and turn on WiFi, I get the correct location. So something is up with either the nearest tower or something is wrong with our SIM cards. You can make the report and see if others in your area have the same issue.
Otherwise, if things aren't resolved, I'd get a new SIM card activated. This was Apple's advice (confirmed by the WiFi/Airplane mode experiment).

My Thoughts...
Some of you people here seriously need to **** and chill.
Justin's portrayal of the Mac platform is immeasurably more dignified than Benjamin Curtis' portrayal of Dell hardware. And while I happen to believe that anytime someone communicates in public they have an intrinsic responsibility to do so in a way which casts themselves in the best possible light, I'm certainly not going to rip him to shreds, mostly because of the public perception of the function of blogs.
Moreover, I have never given any thought to the subject of whether he had his own web site or not (many celebrities do). I haven't visited it myself, and therefore am totally unaware of it's content. But I do thank you folks for your attempts at bludgeoning me and trying to drive spikes into my skull over the content there.
Regarding Justin's Mac character being arrogant...
Justin's portrayal is usually pretty neutral and flat with respect to those qualities. He's simply reporting accurate information. Do you think your dictionary is arrogant because it has the exact definition for every word you ever find in it? Is your copy of iTunes arrogant because it has all the precise info on all of your favorite music, including numbers of times played, frequency of playback, etc?
Mac OS X doesn't have any viruses in the wild for it. Mac OS X has no spyware. Mac OS X as a platform is somewhat less severely impacted by pop-up web browser windows, and due to it's design is completely un-impacted by pop-ups not directly related to specifically-viewed web pages. Being a BSD variant and therefore drawing upon the many strengths of F/OSS development community, it is a better-engineered OS. These are not opinions; they are facts. They are demonstrable and quantifiable. The fact that Justin's character states them (which he definitely does do) is nothing more than an accurate representation of our present reality.
Regarding the reference to holidays; and of their general celebration...
Why don't you atheists and non-Christian followers grow a pair already? You want us to respect the fact that you walk the Earth, too, and don't share our religious beliefs, so how about you do the same, ok? And for the record, this country was founded by white, anglo-saxon men who were all of some Christian faith. It wasn't founded by pagans, or Muslims, or Taoists or Shintoists or Buddhists or Atheists or anyone else. It was "God-fearing" Christian men who thought it best to write a document (the Constitution) wherein the rights of each individual person to believe as they wished should not be abrogated by the Government. However, we're referring to society here, not the U.S. Government.
December 25th is Christmas. It has been for hundreds of years, and it continues to be so to this day. Kwanza is a made-up, essentially non-religious holiday for hyphenated Americans who's distant ancestors were from Africa. Chanukkah is a Hebrew holiday, and in fact there are also other Jewish-specific holidays earlier in the year. And even though I don't specifically celebrate them, I will respect them out of respect for those of my fellow human beings who do.
And considering where we are, we really should celebrate January 24th, as it is the day the Mac was released in 1984. You know, I'm going to mark that one down on my calendar and celebrate it. Would anyone here like to propose some suggestions on how that observance (one which is culturally and technologically significant, btw) might be held or handled? I'm serious about this, and am open to any positive, constructive suggestions from anyone without regard to age, race, gender, national origin, or religion. Terrorists and other agents of chaos are, of course, excluded.

Before asking why let's confirm whether. In an interesting melange of conflicting messages, Johann Hari claims that behavior during disasters the world over is surprisingly consistent (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/johann-hari/the-myth-of-the-panicking_b_837440.html), and similar to the Japanese response. He goes so far as to say of reports of widespread post-Katrina looting, "It turns out they didn't exist. Years of journalistic investigations showed them to be racist fantasies. They didn't happen. Yes, there was some "looting" -- which consisted of starving people breaking into closed and abandoned shops for food." I'd sure like to see a citation for that. On the other hand, Andrew Sullivan relays a source in Japan reporting that in fact there is looting in Japan (http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2011/03/why-no-looting-in-japan-ctd-3.html), I would tentatively guess consisting of starving people breaking into closed and abandoned shops for food.
It is at least possible, as I see it, that they are both right, that people do generally go out of their way to help one another in a real crisis, but that the normal ethical laws become more individually malleable when you're hungry and there's a loaf of bread slowly going to rot behind the window of a shop that won't re-open for days.
Moreover, it's striking how closely all these stories extolling Japanese virtue in the face of crisis play into the Western stereotype of Japan as an inscrutable, hyper-efficient human ant colony of sorts.

Looks real nice, but it's too bad they couldn't keep the standard USB connector built-in. Also, on Apple's site it appears that one of the buttons on the top edge is labeled "Off". Is this really an off button (as the label would suggest) or is it the more common "hold" / lock button? If it's a true off button, it would be a first for any iPod (as far as I can recall).

my wife works for a company that deals a lot with Apple products and the code name for the "widescreen ipod" is the ipod dash
Yeah, yeah, right.
But if true the name suggests specific in-car functionality. For example: Bluetooth for a GPS receiver (or built in GPS), route finding software.
And why not? In car GPS route finders are now incorporating MP3 playing capabilities, streaming to the stereo via Bluetooth. It makes sense for Apple to integrate further functionality, when it is the right time, to the correct product.

Going in as an MVNO on Cingular's network would be a disaster. First off, as an MVNO they're probably doomed to fail (ESPN Mobile anyone?). People aren't going to change providers for a specific phone, ESPECIALLY when they'll be able to find an unlocked one on eBay and stay with Cingular or T-Mobile (or any of the other GSM carriers in the world).

geekbench score for the 2.3 dual core is 2082
geekbench score for the 2.5 quad is 3304
and you can get a quad , but you need to make one thing absolute sure , that it does not come with the delphi pumps , apple did change the supplier basically right at the end before discontinuing the G5 , the later ones are i think from panasonic , but that needs confirmation and those are much more reliable , still did not help them ,despite apple still sold quiet a few to its victims aeh customers who believed apple a couple month earlier, as apple told everybody how superior the G5 is and then going intel
Ok, I saw plenty of them on ebay.. in all shapes and sizes(conditions), how do I ask this question to a potential seller? the most I would pay for a G5 Quad, considering I have a PB G4 1.67, 2010 Mac Pro, Pismo G4, and Gateway P-6860fx would be around 4-600 dollars.. no more, no less..
Then I would need an adapter to get the LED cinema display to work with the DVI.

yes.
you guys keep in mind that ONLY FCP is 299. I think Final Cut Pro STUDIO will be around 500-600 Dollar. Still a "Pro-User" pricing so to speak. So most Pro's will go for the suite anyway. I think it's great that Apple is selling the programm itself for this price. It keeps Final Cut Pro alive and I hope that it will be updated more frequently because hopefully more people will use it.
So, are the days of "buy the full version/suit once - get a upgrade for 1/3 of the price with your license" over?? You have to buy the bits and pieces of the FC Suit seperately from release to release - although a bit cheaper - but far from the good deal the upgrades used to be...??

Good point about the 21.5" teardown, but in fact I would say that I anticipate the 27" teardown photos.
OWC did a lower quality teardown of the top of the range 27" model http://blog.macsales.com/9995-2011-imac-unboxing-teardown
Looking at the 21.5" from iFixit, the TB controller is marked with the black rectangle here: Image 1 (http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/55frvuVYNEhNGVeu.huge)
and this: Image 2 (http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/byyC6CCggJuNJLRn.huge) gives you an idea of the size of the chip.
Compare this with OWC:
Image 1 (http://blog.macsales.com/wp-content/gallery/2011-imac-unboxing/imac2011_inside_08.jpg)
Image 2 (http://blog.macsales.com/wp-content/gallery/2011-imac-unboxing/imac2011_inside_03.jpg)
Image 3 (http://blog.macsales.com/wp-content/gallery/2011-imac-unboxing/imac2011_inside_06.jpg)
There is what looks like a white passive heatsink covering a chip(s) that isn't there in the 21.5". That heatsink is in the place you would expect to find the TB controller, and it's definitely wider than the TB controller shown in the iFixit photos. Eyeballing it it looks like it might be wide enough for two of those little TB controller chips side-by-side... Yes, the two MLB's aren't laid out identically but all the connectors appear to be in a similar position and I can say that in most cases the different models have similarly laid out MLBs.
Again, more speculation but it looks like there's something there. Perhaps the potential for 40Gbps of throughput in that one area of the MLB is enough to warrant a passive heatsink. Guess we'll see.

Again, more speculation but it looks like there's something there. Perhaps the potential for 40Gbps of throughput in that one area of the MLB is enough to warrant a passive heatsink. Guess we'll see.
