Oops! I guess this is the last item, not that previous..lol. Applecare; yes...definitely worth the cost. I'd get it closer to the end of year one though, that'll give 4 really. If you get it now, there's overlap. At least that's how it used to work?
It overlaps regardless. Applecare adds 2 years to the end of your factory warranty. It also makes it so that you have the full 3 years of phone support (unlimited) instead of just one call within the first 90 days. If you think you might need help doing anything, the phone support is very much worth it; even if nothing ever goes wrong hardware-wise with your machine. One thing - unless you get the student discount somehow, don't buy Applecare from Apple. Do it on Amazon and you can save some money.

Be specific about what you want to listen for.
There are much simpler ways of listening for some things than kqueues or select(). It's called launchd. You tell it what things to listen for: a change to a directory, a request to establish a socket, a certain time or day, etc. It then runs your program when that event occurs. Your program doesn't run at all unless and until the event occurs. And launchd is a boot process, so it's always running anyway, whether you're using its services or not.
You configure launchd through plists, so you may not even have to write any code. You might be able to use an existing tool, or a simple shell script, that's run when the event occurs.
Not every possible event or condition can be triggered through launchd, but for those that can, it's a huge savings of time and effort.

Wait, why are you guys so angry about this? It's a simple rule. You can't spend money you don't have without dipping a very deep hole very fast.
I always fight the urge to burst out laughing when I hear news anchors, internet articles, government reps, etc tossing around "billions" and "trillions" of dollars like chips. It's like Dr. Evil demanding "1 billion, gagillion, fafillion, shabolubalu million illion yillion...yen."

I have my home dir on a separate drive. It's really easy, there's no need to create filesystem links of any such thing. There is a field in NetInfo manager which is the path to your home dir. Just change the path and then copy your dir to the new location.
You won't be able to delete your current home dir until after you reboot.

tried it on a mac and a windows and it still dont work.
i downloaded the recovery thing and there was 2 programs. 4.2.1 and 4.3.
i picked 4.2.1 because i am on 3.2.2 but want to go to 4.2.1
when i run the program it says
Found device in DFU mode
Checking if device is compatible with this jailbreak
Checking the device type
Sorry device is not compatible with this jailbreak
Exiting libpois0n
logout
[Process completed]
Okay that says your not getting the 4.2.1 firmware to take...
Get firmware here; http://appldnld.apple.com/iPad/061-9857.20101122.VGthy/iPad1,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw
Note on a windows system you'll need to rename iPad1,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.zip to iPad1,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw
Is this what you are doing?
1). Get the latest TinyUmbrella.
2). Open TinyUmbrella
3). Plug in your device and save SHSH (make sure 4.2.1 SHSH were saved, if not don't bother continuing.
4). Start TSS Server (If you get errors read the help section or FAQs or comment below typically it fails because you have some kind of web sharing enabled... use google to fix it - your issue really not much I can do...)
5). Open iTunes
6). Select your device in iTunes
7). Shift(windows) / Option(Mac) restore -> Select the 4.2.1 ipsw (iPad1,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw)
Restore SHOULD error with a 1013 error. Click the "ok's" and close iTunes.
8). With your device sitting with the usb pointing to iTunes (recovery mode), enter DFU by pressing and holding HOME + POWER until your screen goes black... then after a count of 2 (1.5-2 seconds) let go of POWER but keep holding HOME. If all goes well you will see nothing but a black screen. If your timing is even a LITTLE bit off, you will see the apple logo and your phone will boot back into recovery mode... Go back to step 8 and try again.
Start 'Fix Recovery'
Click 'Yes'
Your device's screen will turn white and you'll see debug boot information.
Eventually your device will boot into the activation screen.d
Congrats. You're on 4.2.1 (again)? :)

This is driving me crazy. I had an old 1988-ish Apple when i was young, I think it was system 6. It had the games Power Pete and Lode Runner on it which I assumed were included with the computer. However, it also had this painting game or application which I don't think was macpaint but may have been. This game/app terrified me because in some way it featured this creepy man with a mustache that kind of looked like the villain from Frosty the Snowman.

Only vaguely, though.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm thinking of and if there is information about it online?

I've found a solution to play Amazon Cloud Player on the iPhone:

Just stream it from the computer via WiFi2HiFi. Its handy when you have a sound dock and a computer in the same room.

Awesome! I am glad to hear this... What do I need to do to get it to work? Please let me know.
Also what file type does it need to be? I tried a .PHP, and a .html file nither worked, it said extract error.

For actual written fiction, visit:

and click "words".
At the moment, almost all of the material is extracted from screenplays that I've put together: plans are in motion to get "regular" fiction up in the future.

I have the Altec Lansing 2.1 FX 6021 speakers and they are awesome.
Unfortunately the sub blew and was searching for a similar type of audio performance/design/price range for 2.1 speakers.
Any recommendations would be appreciated! Thanks!
I would go with M-Audio AV-40s (2.0 but good bass response) or Logitech Z-2300. Personally I use both. The M-Audio speakers are Pro-grade and provide really clear sound. The Z-2300's have good sound and more "power".
Cheers
