I wonder which are worst:
A) Video games based on movies, or
B) Movies based on video games.
Tough choice.
How about a video game based on a movie based on a video game? :)

Provided AT&T is generous with their upgrade window, the only things that could get me to update would be a $199 price for the 32 GB and a larger screen (as long as it doesn't increase the size of the device.)
Otherwise, I'll probably just wait it out for the 4G in 2012. I'm much more interested in iOS 5.
There's a chance Apple may include some iOS 5 dual core-only features, and that could be a deciding factor. I doubt it, though (not interested in photobooth.)

A news release on Darwinports website says...
DarwinPorts project announces New Hosting and New Name
7 Aug 8:47 PM
DarwinPorts project announced today its intention to accept hosting for the DarwinPorts project through the new Mac OS Forge facility being set up by Apple Computer at www.macosforge.org. This follows news that opendarwin.org, the project's current hosting provider, will be shut down in the coming months.
James Berry, a member of the DarwinPorts steering committee says:
"We are pleased that by offering us hosting and administrative support services, Apple continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to the open source community. That support is vital to our project."
As part of the transition to Mac OS Forge, the DarwinPorts project will adopt the new name MacPorts, utilizing the macports.org domain, which it recently acquired. "We believe the new name MacPorts better reflects our mission, which is to provide a collection of open source ports for Mac OS X, with future supportfor binary packages", says Juan Manuel Palacios, another DarwinPorts member.
Members of the DarwinPorts/MacPorts project and portmgr team will work with opendarwin.org and Mac OS Forge to effect a smooth transition over the coming weeks.

Yes, LOUD voices...
I don't freaking need the thing. I have got to have it.
Maybe I should see how long I can go before I go mental.
Hehe, my first thought was who am I going to give my Shuffle to in order to get me one of these. :D
I'd like it to be my new Shuffle but there is at least one thing holding me back: No lanyard with 3rd party headphones. If there were one, I'd already have bought it...
I guess I am lucky. :D

hey, thanks for the link!
i would love to watch some people interact live and react live. and get in on the chat to duscuss.
from what i can tell they'll be aggregating liveblogs and covering those too so its really like one-stop shopping(/viewing)

Maybe I'm missing something, but I haven't found a way to take a file I've made in GarageBand and put in something I'm working on in iMovie..I know I can do it once I've done a sync to iTunes, but I'm wondering if there is another way. I've been creating several videos on the iPad and wanted to use GarageBand while on the fly. Any help anyone can provide is much appreciated!

i don't mean the mobile alerts that you can set up on twitters website. ever since the new update to the twitter app, i get an sms when i mentioned, even if it's from someone who i don't receive mobile updates for.
i'm assuming this has to do with this update because it didn't happen before...

If you can settle on a current hardware offering, I would go ahead and switch, now is the perfect time from a software (OSX) standpoint. You aren't going to loose PPC support for a loooooooong time (people with intels are going to be the onl ones suffering for a while waiting for programmers to catch up) The OS, and the future potential for growth in Apple has never been stronger. If you can afford it, switch now...
P.S. With that monitor (which I would assume you'd want to keep), I'd suggest a powermac, or a 15 or 17 powerbook, as they have the horsepower to run it. (the mini won't support it at full resolution).

Hopefully, there is an store near you that sells Apple computers
where you can actually gauge for yourself how an iBook or TiBook
compares with your current setup.

If you look at your screenshot you will see the checkbox is for "Hide" (as it also says in the description below). Select the application then press the minus button below the list.

i can't recall all the setting for the pref pane, but i know you can start the console version with the -configonly parameter to configure the client.
but let me ask, what machine are you running this on? and which client are you running?
i replied that question in another thread you asked yesterday (i think). its the i7 imac :)
client? umm when i open the console it says Version 6.29r1. does that help?

I recently updated OS X to the newest version of 10.6 (I forgot what number it is) and since then my iMac takes ages to go to sleep. When I put it to sleep (via the apple menu > sleep) then the screen turns black immediately but I still see my cursor. Then after many seconds (never counted, but at least 30 seconds), the screen turns off and the insides stop humming. What could be the problem?

How much would they HAVE to spend? Steve Jobs mentions it, and it is the ONLY media story on ALL media networks (not just tech ones!) for WEEKS!

I already have several 1TB disks, of which I will use one and I have one 2TB external I can use. That means I need to buy:
Two SSD drives
One 2TB internal HDD
One 3TB internal HDD
One 3TB external HDD
I'm thinking that will all cost more than $400 but I can go over a couple hundred if needed.
You should be able to manage this then if you don't go crazy on the SSD used for the boot disk (say 80GB max, and I suspect the OWC 60GB would be of sufficient capacity as a boot disk, which is ~$139USD). Neither this or the 40GB versions are 6.0Gb/s, but they're fast, and quite good for random access. And more importantly, would allow you to stay within your actual budget. ;)
