Twigs & Honey at BHLDN :: Anthropologie Weddings

twigsandhoney_BHLDN

It has been around a half a year in the making, but I'm thrilled to finally be able to announce that Twigs & Honey is now being carried at BHLDN (the weddings line for Anthropologie)! If you know me, you know I'm horrible at keeping secrets but I had been dropping a few hints as the launch date got closer. And what's this... not just one but two styles in two different color ways are at BHLDN right now! Exciting!

whitefeather

For the Peony Hairpins, I hand curled every single feather in every piece (yes, thousands of feathers!). The grey version I hand dyed the feathers to achieve that lovely smokey, soft grey. It was quite the project! The Peony Hairpins were a customized design modified from our popular "Flourish" double feather flower.

For the Festooned Shoe Clips, I handmade each one from several types of feathers. The design is brand new and specially designed for BHLDN. The blue feathers I custom hand dyed based off a swatch to match perfectly with some of the dresses in the BHLDN line. The rhinestone ornamentation and clip backings were all individually hand stitched. A really massive undertaking! Sore fingers, check!

It's been so much fun to see the Twigs & Honey pieces popping up in photos around the web from blogger sneak peaks and awesome to see the BHLDN team pairing them with ensembles throughout their site. :)

A special THANK YOU to the team at BHLDN!! It has been so great to work with BHLDN!

Also, a special thank you to my hubby who helped me lovingly pack all these beauties when it came time to ship and who also helped with other details here and there during the production. :)

Find all these pieces plus many other beautiful finds (dresses, lingerie, shoes!) at BHLDN.com

New velvet crush

I'm just a little hooked on and excited about velvet right now. Why? I don't know, but if pressed on the question, I guess it's because it has a vintage feel about it. I like the the weight and thickness as well. It creates lovely durable and substantial head pieces. Expect to see many more velvet pieces soon. Here's the latest:

Milky Way
Hand dyed and handmade silk velvet and silk organza flower.
Thank you so much, everyone, for your sweet comments on my previous post. I'm SO happy that you like the new work. That really keeps me going! I "treated" myself to a shower this morning... ha ha! I don't look like such a grease ball in these latest photos. ;)

What a week!

It has been an insanely busy week, so I do apologize for the light blog posts! I didn't get dressed up once this week... I have been in sweats every single day, so no outfit posts. So sorry! I am also a little behind on messages and orders and am staying up late tonight again to catch up. So hang tight!
What the heck have I been up to this week? WELL... I have been building a brand new website from scratch...
I had a couple medical things to attend to...
I had two photo shoots to create pieces for...
Fulfilling orders...
And every once and a while... I sleep a little. ;)
I jokingly wrote to my sister that I only showered twice this week. I know, I know! Ew~ So not lady like! But it's been that busy. I figure that saves me about 1 hour. So for all the lovely blog readers, here's a sneak peak at some new pieces I worked on this week for the shoots...

2010 Collection trickling into the online shop!

I've finally had a bit of time to update my online store. I'm redesigning parts of it so from time to time, things might look a little off, but it's all for the sake of making it prettier, I promise.
I've added a new category for Twigs & Honey products: Twigs & Honey Luxe
These products will be for those who want to splurge on the highest quality of Twigs & Honey head pieces. These pieces are very special and unique and are made with extra care and have even more intricate detail work. I hope you enjoy!
I've also added a "rush processing" option for Luxe pieces, which will expand into the other categories with time. More pieces to fill my shop soon! Go HERE to see them all.

In love with pink.

So the skin on my fingers is nearly rubbed raw after spending too many hours into the late night hand sewing these pieces. I still have many more to create but if you are lucky enough to be one of ladies signed up for Lisa Warninger's Boudoir shoot this weekend, you'll have the opportunity to wear these (inspired by Snippet & Ink inspiration board):

The one below is for a Style Me Pretty Inspiration to Reality shoot:

These are not store-bought, pre-made flowers. The flowers are all made from scratch from silk and cotton fabric... I hand dye them, hand cut them, hand paint, hand press and then hand sew.... hence, my little fingers are a bit tired... and multi-colored.

I am continually becoming more and more critical of my work and that's been making me really try to push the envelope in terms of the complexity of my pieces and the originality. On a side note, since I started, I feel like everytime I try to make something totally original and apart from everything else out there, someone starts to copy it. It can be so frustrating... I keep telling myself, "f*#$ it... I'll create something new again and even more elaborate..." and then that gets copied.... it's a vicious cycle (sorry for the mini vent, but I work hard and it can be so exhausting and annoying). Gosh... I know I'm not the only designer who has to go through this (look at my favorite fernanimals). To all the Twigs & Honey friends, fans, brides, clients... thank you so much for all your support through the last two years!! I promise not to vent often! Twigs & Honey brings me such happiness and I like to be happy more than sad. :)
