10. Kim So-Yeon (김소연, 金素妍)
Kim So-Yeon is best known for her starring role in the drama All About Eve. Her work mainly revolves around TV dramas. In 2005, she appeared in the big budget Hong Kong film Seven Swords.
9. Eugene Kim (김유진, 金楢真)
Eugene Kim, or Kim Yoo-Jin, debuted as the “face” of the popular K-pop group S.E.S. in 1997. With her good look stood out in her group, it was inevitable that she would later go solo in 2002. After the split, she moved on to acting in films and dramas with mixed results.
8. Han Ga-In (한가인, 韩佳人)
Han Ga-In is both a model and TV actress. She first made her appearance in the TV drama Sunshine Hunting in 2000, and later rose to fame with her performance in the hit drama Super Rookie in 2005. In the same year, when she was just 23 years old, she married an actor whom she met while filming Yellow Handerchief in 2003.
7. Jeon Ji-Hyun (전지현, 全智賢)
Jeon Ji-Hyun began her career as a model in 1997, and soon became an actress in dramas until 1999 when she moved on to films. Her second movie II Mare was proved to be successful, but it was her breakthrough performance in the romantic comedy, My Sassy Girl, that earned her the Best Actress honor in Daejong Film Festival in 2002. Jeon’s other great movies include Windstruck and Daisy.
6. Lee Da-Hae (이다해, 李多海)
Lee Da-Hae is an up and coming actress in TV dramas. After she moved back to her home country from Sydney, Australia, she debuted as an actress with her appearance in the TV drama Ling Ling. Lee is also known for her dancer inspired body due to her passion in traditional Korean dance. Her memorable dramas include Green Rose, My Girl, and Hello! Miss.
5. Son Ye-Jin (손예진, 孫藝珍)
Son Ye-Jin made her acting debut in the drama Delicious Proposal. She later went on to films and has had great success in the filming industry. Some of her best movies include The Classic, A Moment to Remember, Open City, and My Wife Got Married.
4. Kim Hee-Sun (김희선, 金喜善)
Kim Hee-Sun is the most well-known Korean actress in not only her home country, but also in mainland China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and throughout Southeast Asia. Kim has been acting in TV dramas and movies for over a decade. Some of her biggest movies are Ghost in Love, Bichunmoo, and The Myth (opposite Jackie Chan). She’s now happily married and recently gave birth to a baby girl.
3. Kim Tae-Hee (김태희, 金泰希)
Kim Tae-Hee first rose to fame from her performance in the hit TV drama Stairway to Heaven, in which she played an evil stepsister. She has since appeared in a number of popular TV dramas and movies such as Forbidden Love, Love Story in Harvard, and Venus & Mars. She also appears in countless commercials for Samsung, Maxwell House, LG, Olympus, and many others.
2. Lee Hyo-Ri (이효리, 李孝利)
Lee Hyo-Ri is the highest-paid female pop singers in South Korea. Famous for her killer look and sexual image, she started off as the lead singer of the popular K-pop girl group Fin.K.L. in 1998, but has since become a solo artist. She also appeared in a few TV dramas, but none of those received good praise from the public.
1. Song Hye-Gyo (송혜교, 宋慧喬)
Song Hye-Kyo is currently the most popular Korean actress in Asia. Song made her debut by winning the Grand Prize in model search in SunKyung Smart and starring in a Sunday morning drama called Happy Morning in 1996. She starred in number of hit dramas including All In, Autumn Fairy Tale, and Full House. Due to her popularity she can be seen frequently on advertisements when she is not acting. Song is currently filming in Director John Woo’s latest work, 1949, in Hong Kong.
