Georgia's task that day was understood—beat Auburn and wrap up a third straight SEC Championship—but Auburn made the Bulldogs work harder than they had all season in securing the victory.
The Tigers fought the dogs tooth and nail for four quarters, and led for a time before surrendering the lead late in the fourth. Even so, with less than a minute to go in the game, the Tigers still had the opportunity to win the game.
Georgia led 19-14 when Auburn quarterback , Randy Campbell, stepped up to the line of scrimmage—hoping to make something big happen on 4th-and-17. Once the ball was snapped, Campbell came under immense pressure from Georgia's front seven and, in response, heaved the ball toward the blue jerseys in the endzone—he didn't hit any of them. Ronnie Harris and Jeff Sanchez, two of Georgia's defensive backs, knocked the ball to the ground.
Game over.

Herschel was the difference in this one.

Interesting note: If you listen closely, Buck Belue—former teammate of Walker and QB for the 1980 Championship team—is one of the color commentators for the game. Belue essentially walked from the football field to the press box after his career at Georgia and he's been in broadcasting ever since.
