Former Georgia Bulldog legend, Herschel Walker, is preparing for his second mixed-martial arts (MMA) fight.
It was only this past January that he made his pro debut in MMA Strikeforce.
At 47-years old, not many gave him much of a chance to win the match—figuring he'd be one-and-done once he got a taste of how gruesome the sport can be.
However, Walker proved he was more than a competitor, as he not only fought decently in but, managed to defeat his much younger opponent.
Now, at 48, he plans to take his 1-0 record and put it to the test again as he prepares for his second match, set to take place on December 4th. Walker has already stated this is likely to be his last, attesting to the fact that he isn't as young as he used to be.
To most Georgia Bulldog fans, Walker will simply remain one of the fiercest running backs in college football history—the catalyst behind an undefeated, national championship winning, season in 1980.
To date, one of the reasons for that legendary status is the body of Walker. Herschel has always been well-known for his muscular build and powerful legs. To this day, he continues to state that his regiment for keeping such a toned physique is non-traditional.
Says Walker, "I don't worry about protein. I don't worry about all that. I'm from old school. I grew up in south Georgia. They didn't worry about cholesterol or protein. They went out and worked and lived a long time, so I don't put a lot of worries in my mind. I just get it done."
He also adds that he still does his patented sit-ups (2,000) and push-ups (750-1,500) on a daily basis.
Even more, he doesn't follow the dietary plan that most nutritionists advise most body-builders and athletes to adhere to (eat breakfast, lots of protein, six small meals a day...etc). On the contrary, he skips meals, eating only once a day, is a vegetarian, and sometimes goes several days without eating at all—despite a fierce training regimen.
It's definitely not something that his current trainer advises for the average joe, but he admits to allowing Walker to continue doing things his way because it's worked out fine for him.

As for the vegetarian comment, that's a bit of a head-scratcher considering Walker is behind one of the more popular meat processing companies in the south—Renaissance Man Foods.
Not to mention...this:
It could have been just bread and lettuce he was munching on, but, it is kind of funny to hear him say he's a vegetarian while hawking chicken products.
That said, Herschel is still the man. After all, real MMA competition or not, there aren't many 47-year olds who could have done this:
Here Walker talks about how he got into shape after being teased for being chubby in high school:
...Well, that's one way to get the job done. Wow!
Lastly, a quick look at what Herschel has to say about his last opponent, his next opponent, and his training progress:
