Robert Redford helms the James McAvoy starrer The Conspirator, which follows the arrest and trial of Mary Surratt (Robin Wright) after her involvement as a co-conspirator in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September 2010, The Conspirator is scheduled to hit cinemas in the Spring and also features Justin Long (Jeepers Creepers), Evan Rachel Wood (The Wrestler), Jonathan Groff (Glee), Tom Wilkinson (Batman Begins), Alexis Bledel (Sin City), Kevin Kline (A Fish Called Wanda), Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Toby Kebbell (Dead Man’s Shoes).

The approach is an interesting one as it focuses on the aftermath and personal repercussions of Lincoln's death as well as the wider concerns.
The next couple of years will be Abe heavy with Spielberg's Lincoln starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - with Benjamin Walker (Flags of our Fathers) announced today as the beefcake President - both set for release in 2012.
