Despite a heavy marketing campaign here in the UK, Michel Gondry's big-budget 3D action comedy The Green Hornet failed to take first place at the box office in its opening weekend, pulling in just £1.87m as to settle for second place behind reigning champion The King's Speech. Tom Hooper's highly acclaimed period drama - which stars Colin Firth as Britain's King George VI - managed to increase its opening haul, banking a royal £4.4m to retain the crown and push its total gross beyond the £10m mark after just 10 days on screens.
With just the one new entry there are plenty of familiar faces in the top ten this week, although there is still room for a bit of a reshuffle. Danny Boyle's 127 Hours slips one place, while Jack Black family adventure Gulliver's Travels holds firm in fourth ahead of comedy sequel Little Fockers, which has amassed a pretty impressive £17m to date and still looks to be going strong.
Heading to the bottom half of the chart Love and Other Drugs and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader hold onto sixth and ninth respectively, while The Next Three Days and Tron: Legacy both fall two positions from last week. Finally Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 drops one place to eighth and remains the clear leader in terms of total gross with just under £51.5m.
